The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employee Ekiti State Chapter has commended the Ekiti State Governor Dr. Kayode Fayemi for his intention to commence the payment of thirty thousand naira new minimum wage for workers from grade level eight and above.
Governor Fayemi had on Tuesday during the presentation of the 2021 budget announced his intention to begin the payment of the new minimum wage with an affirmation that all necessary requirements have been captured in the budget.
In a statement in Ado Ekiti, NULGE president, Mr. Oluseyi Olatunde and the secretary Mr. Suleiman Aleru said the decision of government would ease the hardship of workers and further propel them to give their best.
According to the NULGE leaders the implementation of the new minimum wage has been a long time agitation of workers considering the current economic realities saying it is a thing of joy that the Governor has decided to commence the payment.
He however called on government to ensure that no discrimination is entertained in the payment of the new minimum wage.
