Four former Councillors from Ekiti-East Local Government Area of Ekiti State have announced their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The defectors who had served as elected Councillors between 2018-2019 under Governor Fayose’s administration announced their defection from PDP to APC during their visit to the office of Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Affairs North Senatorial District, Hon. Kayode Olowookere.
The APC new entrants are: Hon. Samson Dayo (Ward 4), Hon. Lawrence Ogundele (Ward 12), Hon. Oladipo Babalola (Ward 11) and Hon. Dare Babalola (Ward 5).
They were led to the office of the SA by the Former Chairman of Ekiti-East Local Government, Hon. Sunday Ogundana who had earlier defected to APC.
The Leader of the Ex-councillor who was also a former Majority Leader of Ekiti-East Local Government, Hon. Dayo Samson, said their decision to leave their former leader and former Governor of the state, Mr Ayodele Fayose, followed their strong belief in the leadership style of Governor Kayode Fayemi.
Hon. Samson said that the present administration had proved that it was a government for everybody as it did not victimise or threaten the political affiliation of members of other political parties in the state.
Also speaking, former Deputy Leader of the Council, Hon. Peter Oladipo said the way Governor Fayemi manages human beings is quite different from former Governor Fayose. He said they don’t have freedom under the former Governor.
In his response, the SA Political affairs, Hon. Kayode Olowookere congratulated the new decampees for taken a bold step to join the progressive train, assured them that the party will not discriminate against them.
He said Governor Fayemi has demonstrated that he is for everybody, stressed that this has manifested through his appointment and laudable infrastructure development spread across the state.
The governor’s Aide said Dr. Fayemi is running an inclusive government, stressed that majority of his followers are following him because of his sincerity.
Olowookere called on other opposition members who are still on the fence to come and join APC as the door of the party is wide open.
He implored them to go and register in their various Wards and formally introduced themselves to the party leadership at the grassroots.
SSA Women Advocacy to Ekiti State Governor, Hon.Tola Ajayi Odoko was also present at the meeting.
