Allow legislators and Commission members into office, Commission Boss appeals to Parliamentary staffs

The Ekiti state House of Assembly Service Commission chairman, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun has appealed to the striking workforce of the legislative arm of Government to allow legislators and top management staffs entry into the Assembly complex.

He made the remark during the top management meeting held under a tree in front of the State Assembly complex on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state capital.

The former lawmaker admonished the striking workforce to sheath their sword and allow room for reasonable dialouge as there are time bound issues affecting staffs to be looked into quickly.

In his words, “We appeal that there are time bound critical issues that should be looked into concerning some members of staff and if that’s not done this week, that will spell doom. The industrial action about financial autonomy is understood and should not affect the workings of the Assembly complex because the state is bigger than everyone. Workers can determine not to come but the top Management members be allowed to work for what they are being paid for”

Furthermore, he praised the union for the the request for the autonomy but maintained that the sanctity and security of the legislative arm of government be more prioritised.
“The request is desirable and not out of place for the legislature to enjoy financial autonomy under the present settings in Nigeria. It is our strong believe that this process be handled in a more civilised and democratic ways. We beg that they allow us do the job we swore to do as top management team of the Commission” Olatunbosun said.

He, therefore,  appealed that the government of Dr. Kayode Fayemi is working assiduously to ensure that all their request is looked into among his Governor-colleagues and as the Chairman of the Governors forum same way he ensures prompt payment of salaries in the state since the government came on board.

Honorable members of the commission, clerk of the house, the Executive Secretary, and other top members of management were all in attendance during the meeting.
