… As 350 Tourists participated in Hike Ekiti Mountain Safari 3.0

Ekiti State Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism, Professor Rasaki Ojo Bakare has reiterated the readiness of Ekiti State Government to partner with key stakeholders to transform the tourism sector of the state to fast track the much-needed economic growth in the state.
Bakare said this while declaring open the 3rd edition of Hike Ekiti Mountain Safari in Ado-Ekiti.
He said Ekiti people are better when it comes to the knowledge economy.
“We are in hurry to develop tourism sector in Ekiti, for so long we have overemphasized on Agriculture, yes we are agrarian environment no doubt about that.
“But when you look at it in a real sense of it, Ekiti people are better when it comes to the knowledge economy. When it comes to the sectors we refer to as soft power. Tourism, culture, and arts is one of those sectors. We believe that with a prosperous culture and tourism sector, Ekiti state will change not for the better but the best state in Nigeria.”
The commissioner appealed to Ekiti people to work together to make the tourism sector big in the state.
Similarly, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Tourism development, Ambassador Wale Ojo Lanre has revealed that Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has mandated his office to help and develop ideas from Ekiti youths.
He charges the youth with ideas like Marathon, Hiking, tourism, and adventures to bring it to his office for support.
The leader of Discover Ekiti which organizes the Hike Ekiti Mountain Safari, Michael Peculiar Ekiran has described Mountain Tourism Adventures as Ekiti’s copious treasure trove with a fascinating comparison to “White Oil”.
Ekiran while basking in the success of the third edition of the Hike Ekiti Mountain Safari which held at Abanijorin cave and mountain, Odo –Uro, Iyin Ekiti, Monday, April 5th, 2021, this year’s easter monday, stressed that exploring the rocky abundance in Ekiti could bring about a financial boost that the state currently yearns for.
He explained that “Every Destination we all dream to travel to in the world name it USA, Dubai, Paris, Kenya started with ONE THING IN MIND…Community Branding and Place Marketing Initiatives For example in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Some part of South Africa, these communities are naturally endowed with Wildlife’s and they have successfully build a global brand around it known as Wildlife Safari.”
“Ekiti is naturally endowed as a community with one of largest and most astonishing Mountains Hills and Rock formations in the world. Considering the astonishing tourism potentials of these Historic Ekiti Hills and Mountains, they have the economic viability and attraction potential to be an advanced premium and iconic heritage tourist centres that can attract the patronage of Global and Local Tourists, visitors, adventurers and investors” The vibrant team lead harped.
Ekiran urged the government and private sector to invest more in this sector in the state, noting that the rolling hills and mountains, and some discovered caves, have the potential to turn around the economy of the state with less dependence on federal allocation if they are harnessed properly.
He gives kudos to Ekiti State Government under the administration of Dr. John Kayode Fayemi for making Ekiti a State a conducive and sustainable environment for the tourism industry to thrive.
More than 350 hikers from across Nigeria made it to the safari on Easter Monday. With the aforementioned vision in sight, preparations have commenced for the 4.0 edition.
