Bauchi State Government has raised the alarm that Boko Haram insurgents are active in four local government areas of the state after the vandalisation of a telecommunication mast in Gamawa.

The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Sabiu Baba, while addressing newsmen shortly after a security meeting between the Governor and head of security agencies, said five people have been arrested in connection with the mast vandalisation.

The Secretary identified the affected councils as Gamawa, Zaki, Dambam and Darazo.

Baba said the influx of people from neighboring Yobe where a recent attack was carried out by Boko Haram in Geidam community might have made the affected communities vulnerable to attacks by the terrorists.

He assured the state government was working round the clock to beef up security surveillance around neighboring communities.

The SSG also said Governor Bala Mohammed has provided the needed support to security agencies to intensify patrol and surveillance, particularly at the vulnerable communities which share border with Yobe.
