A container with 4,996,200 capsules of tramadol weighing 2,498kg has been intercepted by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Onne Port, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA spokesman, disclosed this in a statement today.

Babafemi said the illicit drug was concealed in 1,387 cartons.

The discovery followed a joint examination by NDLEA operatives and Customs personnel on a container marked MRKU 0764717.

The agency said that the consignment had been on the agency’s watch list.

Meanwhile, Muntari Hamidu, 42, was arrested in the Nyibango area of Jimeta in Yola, Adamawa, with 13 sacks of cannabis sativa weighing 166kg.

Similarly, Sani Musa, 35, was apprehended with16.1kg of skunk at Ngurore, Yola South Local Government Area (LAG) of the state.

In Ondo, operatives nabbed James Godspower with 36.5kg of cannabis sativa in Faloye, Ogbese, Akure North LGA of Ondo State.

NDLEA Chairman, Brig. General Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd) commended the Rivers, Adamawa and Ondo Commands for their resilience and commitment.
