Free medical services has been rendered to rural residents in Ekiti State by National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) under the aegies of Health Initiative for Rural Development (HIRD).
While affirming the corps commitment to rural development at Ijan-Ekiti farm settlement in Gboyin local government area on Monday, the Ekiti State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs Mary Chikezie said the scheme efforts is to make health care services delivery for the residents living far away from accessible amenities.
“The 2021 medical advocacy tagged “Health is Wealth for Advancement”. Without any contradiction communities will get timely health care services delivery”.
Mrs Chikezie urged Nigerians residing in rural area to judiciously make use of available opportunities of medical outreaches for sustainability of the interest of the downtrodden.
A 50-year-old man named Mr Fatai Adejumo, Mrs Mary Aduloju and Mrs Funmilayo Chukwuma said the programme came at the right time to enable them to access and improve on their health status.
The beneficiaries proposed for timely access to free health services from governments and private organisations.
A beneficiary of NYSC free health services, Adejumo who spoke to Journalists after the programme, said some of them have find it difficult to access medical outreach whenever there was medical challenges r due to financial constraints. while appreciating the organizers for coming to their aid,
She appealed for more medical outreach by government and private organizations for continuous free healthcare services.
The beneficiaries were tested on high blood pressure and temperatures among others as well as administering drugs “free -of- charge.”
