Approximately 5,000 staff in the Local Government Service of Ekiti State have been promoted in recognition of their achievements in the recently conducted promotion exercise.

Mr. Samuel Adewumi Abejide, the Chairman of the Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission, announced the promotions during an address to management staff, emphasizing that the elevation aims to enhance workers’ morale and contribute to local development initiatives.

Mr. Abejide commended the State Governor, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi for approving the elevation of the staff which he described as a right step in the right direction.

He recalled further that the Governor had earlier on appointed Executive Secretaries and Heads of Local Government Administration in the Local Government service which, he noted was to enable the staff to get to the peak of their career and render services effectively.

The Chairman disclosed that the beneficiaries which cut across different cadres included officers who were eligible for absorption and advancement.

He therefore challenged the workers to be alive to their duties adding “all hands must be on deck to restore the Ekiti values for the betterment of the people at the grassroot.

Speaking at the occasion, the Permanent Secretary Mr. Tayo Olauyi, who described the elevation of the workers as timely appreciated the kind gesture of the Governor of Ekiti State. He gave the breakdown as follows: promotion- 2,715; advancement- 1,360 and absorption into the senior staff level- 945.

Mr. Olauyi assured the Chairman of the continued support and cooperation of the entire workforce to the administration of Dr. Kayode Fayemi stressing that to whom much is given, much is expected.
