The Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers has declared that the state has lost a rare gem and shining star with the demise of the former governorship aspirant in the state, Senator Gbenga Aluko.

In a statement in Ado Ekiti by the Council’s Chairman and Onisan of Isan Ekiti, Oba Gabriel Ayodele Adejuwon , on Sunday, alluded to Aluko’s death as not only devastating, but had inflicted excruciating pains on the entire citizens of the state.

The monarchs sympathised with the Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi and the family of the late Prof Samuel Aluko and the Olode-in-Council over the colossal loss of this detrabilised politician.

Oba Adejuwon said Ekiti would forever miss Senator Aluko’s penchant for quality service delivery as demonstrated during his period at the Senate, when he represented Ekiti South Senatorial district between 1999 and 2003.

“The death of Senator Gbenga Aluko came to us as a rude shock. We were aghast by his sudden death, which came at the least expected time.

“We are saddened by the demise of this young man, who bestrode Ekiti’s political space like a Colossus and made his marks. He did well as a politician and businessman during his lifetime.

“Senator Aluko was born into highly educated family, but this didn’t make him disconnect with his people and this accounted for why he established a multi-million firm in his countryhome in Ode Ekiti.

“Senator Aluko’s generosity to his people and respect for traditional institution were legendary. His contributions to scholarship and youth empowerment were models and such would ever remain indelible in history.

“The late politician was one of the few illustrious Ekiti sons, who did Ekiti proud as a politician with national appeal, wide connection and network that has made the state a force to reckon with in national politics.

“The council pray to God to grant the family and the entire people of the state the required fortitude to bear this incalculable and devastating loss”, Oba Adejuwon prayed.
