Details surrounding the passing of the late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, have surfaced.

All Nigeria Latest News reports that Oba Saliu Adetunji passed away at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, on Sunday at the age of 93.

The Olubadan’s passing occurred 22 days after the death of the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi.

Oba Adetunji ascended to the throne of Olubadan following the passing of Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade.

Explaining how the monarch passed on to reporters, the Palace spokesman, Adeola Oloko said: “It was around 1am that Kabiyesi passed on.

“Around 9pm (Saturday), he was first taken to a private hospital, before he was carried to UCH Ibadan around 1am, thereafter he passed on.

“Baba passed on after a brief illness. He spent about five to six days at the hospital.”

The late Olubadan will be laid to rest today, Sunday, at 4 pm.

Oloko dismissed rumors suggesting that the monarch succumbed to COVID-19.

The final resting place for his remains will be at the palace, with preparations already underway as the grave diggers have commenced their work.
