An Ekiti State High Court in Ado Ekiti has handed down a death sentence by hanging to Kazeem Olafisoye and Owolabi Usman for charges of conspiracy and armed robbery. Additionally, a life imprisonment sentence was given for the attempt to commit murder.

The two convicts, Kazeem Olafisoye and Owolabi Usman, faced a three-count charge and were charged and arraigned before Justice Adekunle Adeleye.

As per the charges, the convicts, along with another individual who is currently at large, committed armed robbery by robbing Odo Charity and her household at gunpoint, taking ₦40,000. Additionally, they attempted to murder Ugwe Ebuka by macheting him at Ekute, Ado Ekiti.

The first convict was overpowered by good samaritans in the neighbourhood whilst the other gang members ran away.

The prosecution team led by the Director of Public Prosecutions, Julius Ajibare, called four witnesses and tendered five exhibits to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt.

L.A. Fasanmi represented the 1st convict while the 2nd convict was represented by Adeyinka Opake.
