Former Ekiti State governor and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate, Asiwaju Segun Oni, has described the passing of the Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Chief Funmi Afuye, as a shocking, devastating, and colossal loss to the people of Ekiti.

Oni, in a press release issued by his media aide, Jackson Adebayo, today in Ado Ekiti, acknowledged Afuye as part of the Omoluabi Ekiti group—a humble and astute politician who served Ekiti with merit in various political capacities, including as Speaker. He noted that Afuye has left behind a commendable legacy.

The former governor extended his condolences to the deceased’s wife, children, family members, members of the state assembly, the government, and all Ekiti people. He offered prayers for comfort and solace from God during this challenging time.
