The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives Candidate for Ekiti North 1 (Ikole/Oye), Mr. Akin Rotimi has commiserated with the Governor of Ekiti State, H.E. Governor Biodun Oyebanji, the Ekiti State House of Assembly, the good people of Ikere-Ekiti, and the Afuye family on the demise of Rt. Hon. Funminiyi Afuye, who was until his passing the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly.

This was contained in a statement signed by his Media Aide, Adeyemi Oluwasegun, on Thursday in Ado- Ekiti.

Rotimi described the dear departed Afuye as a distinguished Ekiti Statesman who contributed immensely to the stability and growth in the state in recent years.

According to Rotimi: “The history of Ekiti State cannot be complete without the contributions of Rt. Hon. Afuye who as a two-time legislator and former Commissioner for Information. Even more so, my political journey would be incomplete without the mention of the late Speaker who I enjoyed a close father-son relationship with for over a decade, since former Governor Fayemi’s first term in office, when I served as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor (Corporate Communications), while he was Commissioner for Information.”

Rotimi recalled that when he facilitated a transformer for his community Odo-Ayedun in 2021, it was the late Speaker who graciously performed the commissioning.

Rotimi further said that: “While we mourn, we celebrate his life and legacy, and commend his character, humility, and integrity” to all who are left behind, to emulate.”

Rotimi concluded his statement with a prayer for all Ekiti people for the fortitude to bear the loss, and for the peaceful repose of the soul of the late Number Three citizen of the state.
