All Nigeria Latest News reports that Hon. Gboyega Aribisogan has emerged as the new Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly.

The lawmakers in Ekiti elected the former leader of the Government Business on Tuesday during the plenary session.

Aribisogan, who hails from Ijesha-Isu in Ikole Local Government Area, was sworn in by the clerk of the House, Mr. Tola Esan.

The vacancy in the number one legislative seat arose following the passing of Speaker Funminiyi Afuye, who suffered cardiac arrest.

Afuye, who represented Ikere Constituency 1 at the Assembly, passed away on October 19 at Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH). His final rites were conducted last Friday, and he was laid to rest in his hometown, Ikere-Ekiti.
