Hon. Samson Omeje, the Enugu State governorship candidate of the Action Democratic party (ADP) has denied any involvement purported endorsement PDP candidates.
Recall that after the Enugu PDP’s campaign flag off at Okpara square on Friday,12 political parties were reported to have endorsed all the PDP’s candidates in Enugu.
The 12 parties led by one Afam Ani were said to have given their reasons for the endorsement of the PDP’s candidates, but Hon. Samson Omeje, the Enugu State Governorship candidate of the Action Democratic party (ADP), one of the parties represented in the endorsement stated that ADP was misrepresented in the charade by a deals guy.
In a statement released to press members in Enugu on Saturday, Hon. Omeje stated that the young man, Mr. Francis Okolie, who represented ADP in the purported endorsement is the husband to the state chairperson of the ADP in Enugu State.
In his words, “Francis is only the husband to our state chairperson and there is no provision in our party’s constitution where the husband or wife of a party officer is empowered to represent the party in any capacity.”
“We wish to urge our supporters and well wishers to disregard the purported endorsement and move on with their hard efforts to win Enugu State for the ADP. Our resolve to liberate Enugu State is total.”
Hon. Omeje continued, ” and to the Enugu State PDP and her guber candidate, we challenge them to mention the names of the so called 12 political parties that they claimed had endorsed them. They can’t just say that 12 political parties endorsed them without mentioning the names of such parties. What we could make of what happened is that some 12 Enugu youths came together and decided to defraud the Enugu PDP and her guber candidate, and I urge them to go for a refund when whatever transaction that was consumated is still fresh.” “And if the husband to our state chairperson represented our party illegally, who knows how many more of the so called 12 parties were also illegally represented in charade called endorsement.”
“The Enugu State chairman of PDP, his deputy, and the so called leader of the group of 12 parties, Mr. Afam Ani knew the names and faces of party chairmen in Enugu, and they were certain that Mr. Francis Okolie is not and has never been the state chairperson of the ADP,yet, they allowed this transaction and impersonation.”
On the other hand, the state secretary of the ADP in Enugu State, Hon. Ifeanyi Omiko Agwu stated that the news of the ADP’s involvement in the endorsement of the Enugu PDP’s candidates as represented by Mr. Francis Okolie, the husband to the state chairperson came to them as a huge surprise.
Hon. Agwu urged their party faithfulls in Enugu to disregard the unfortunate development in the state where the party has vibrant governorship and other Candidates in other positions in the forthcoming elections in Enugu State as the party is working hard towards massive victory in the 2023 election.
