The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has urged President-elect Bola Tinubu to foster national unity through a government of national unity and expedite a process of national reconciliation.
All Nigeria Latest News reports that the party asserted that despite the evident challenges and concerns raised by aggrieved stakeholders, it stands by the outcome of the electoral process.
The National Chairman of the SDP, Shehu Gabam, revealed this during a Thursday press briefing at the party’s headquarters in Abuja.
He congratulated Tinubu on his victory in the fiercely contested presidential election and commended the SDP’s presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, for his commendable performance in the election.
Gabam said, “We call on the President-elect to take deliberate practical steps in uniting the country, to bring the country together through a government of national unity; to fix our obvious national cracks, address the failings, heal the land and fast-track the process of national reconciliation.
“The SDP heartily congratulates all Nigerians for the peaceful and successful presidential and national assembly elections that took place on Saturday, February 25, 2023, and Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress Candidate for winning the keenly contested presidential election.”
The SDP, in commending the Independent National Electoral Commission led by Mahmood Yakubu for overcoming challenges, also praised the runners-up and all the presidential candidates for their commitment to serving the country, making the election highly competitive.
