Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai El-Rufai put his position and  his political future on the line to stand by the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu during run up to the presidential elections and after.
In a statement, Barr. George Olufemi Ogunjimi noted that when others rose against Tinubu, the Kaduna governor did not waver.

The Bamofin of Ojo, Lagos, said El-Rufai fought for the presidency to move down South, adding that he would never be forgotten.

He hailed El-Rufai for not betraying Tinubu, while reminding everyone of the pact between the North and South and would not allow selfish interests to damage the pact. He described him as  ‘the last man standing’, adding that he valued his  friendship with the former Lagos governor.

He said: “El-Rufai put his position and probably his political future on the line to stand by our own Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President- elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria when the hawks rose to prominence against him. He  was the vocal voice in the wilderness. He stood firm, he did not waver.”

Ogunjimi made reference to how El-Rufai appointed former  Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as Vice-Chairman of an investment council for Kaduna State after he was removed as Emir.

“48 hours later, he gave him another appointment as Chancellor of Kaduna State University,” he added.

He further extolled El-Rufai’s loyalty and honesty.
