The Oyo Police Command confirmed on Sunday that it has arrested five individuals from a group responsible for forcibly taking control of Amuludun 99.1 FM in Moniya, Ibadan.

All Nigeria Latest News reports that police stated that the individuals, Noah Atoyebi, Gbenga Adeleke, Abdulganiyu Kolawole, Bashiru Kehinde, and Elija Fajola, intended to proclaim independence from the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

According to a statement from Oyo police spokesman Adewale Osifeso, the Command, during intelligence patrols, apprehended the suspects following a distress call.

Osifeso said none of the personnel of the radio station or anyone was hurt as the Command responded swiftly in a well coordinated rescue operation.

The Oyo police spokesman stated that the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) overseeing the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been assigned to lead a team investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. The focus is on expanding the network of arrests through thorough, meticulous, intelligence-driven investigation.

He categorizes the incident as a criminal and unpatriotic act, describing it as a clear case of terrorism. It emphasizes that the matter will be dealt with, applying appropriate sanctions in accordance with the laws of the land.

The statement urged parents and guardians to warn their children against being used to distrupt tomorrow’s event as heavy sanctions await defaulters and other unpatriotic elements sharing the same sinister motives.
