HRM Oba John Adegbenro Falore (Ajigbade III), the Olufaki of Ifaki-Ekiti, has appealed to Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State to reinstate the University of Science and Technology, Ifaki (USTI).
All Nigeria Latest News reports that USTI was merged with the University of Ado-Ekiti now Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti by the administration of Kayode Fayemi in 2010.
Oba Adegbenro made the appeal on Saturday during the turbaning and bestowing of chieftaincy titles by the Ifaki Muslim Community at Kadilat Hotel, Ifaki-Ekiti, on some deserving indigenes.
Olufaki said that Ifaki Community deserved the return of the full-fledged university because the reason the government gave for the merger at that time has been defeated.
The monarch said after the merger of USTI, the EKSG under the same Kayode Fayemi established additional and tertiary institutions in Isan and Ikere-Ekiti.
Oba Adegbenro said former governors Kayode Fayemi and Ayo Fayose promised the Ifaki Community that they would return the University but failed to fulfill their promises.
Olufaki appeal to the state government to return USTI for equity and fairness.
Oba Adegbenro pledged the support of the Ifaki Community to the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji in his quest to develop Ekiti State.
