The President of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Alhaji Jalal Ahmad Arabi to serve as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) for a term of four years in the first instance, All Nigeria Latest News reports
The newly appointed NAHCON (National Hajj Commission of Nigeria) boss previously held the position of Permanent Secretary in the State House during President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
The President has instructed the current Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, to take a three-month pre-retirement leave as outlined in Public Service Rule (PSR) 120243. This directive is effective from October 18, 2023, ultimately leading to his retirement from service on January 17, 2023.
A statement released on Tuesday by presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale announced that starting from October 18, 2023, Mr. Arabi will assume the role of acting with regards to his official capacity. Furthermore, he will continue to hold the substantive position for a new four-year term, commencing on January 17, 2023.
Tinubu has additionally authorized the disbandment of the Board of NAHCON.
