The Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal has affirmed Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as the legitimately elected candidate for the Kogi Central Senatorial Election held in February.

The court dismissed the appeal filed by Abubakar Ohere, stating that it lacked merit.

In a prior ruling in September, the Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal in Lokoja had nullified the victory of Ohere from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Kogi Central Senatorial Election.

The tribunal declared Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the rightful winner of the February senatorial poll.

Despite Ohere’s appeal to the higher court, the Court of Appeal upheld Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as the winner of the election, affirming her status as the duly elected candidate.
