Natasha Akpoti-Uduagan, the Senator representing Kogi Central, expressed surprise at her victory in the Court of Appeal, stating that she did not anticipate the positive outcome, All Nigeria Latest News reports.
In a Tuesday ruling, the Court of Appeal in Abuja declared Natasha Akpoti-Uduagan of the Peoples Democratic Party as the rightful winner of the senatorial election held in February 2023 for Kogi Central.
This decision overturned the previous ruling by the state’s Election Petitions Tribunal in September, which had nullified the victory of Abubakar Ohere of the All Progressives Congress and declared Natasha as the legitimate winner.
“Up until I was declared the winner I was not absolutely sure that I was going to because this is Nigeria anything can happen. I wish you did not play the governor’s message.
“He said this is the beauty of politics. This is not politics. You don’t endanger people and set out to kill people; you destroy properties; you don’t frustrate the electoral process, just because you want your candidate to win and call it the beauty of democracy,” she said during an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today.
The senator said that she would prove to Nigerians that women folk are intelligent.
“Our people want good representation and they voted for it. I am out to prove to Nigerians that women folk are intelligent,” she added.
