Bamidele Faparusi, Finance Commissioner Akintunde Oyebode, MIPU Permanent Secretary Engr Olumide Ajayi and EKSEB Permanent Secretary Phillip Ekundayo Atere, among others.

JKF’s X-postings properly presage the proper documentation of the chronological history of this IPP project:

Early 2020: Discussions about IPP began within Exco circles

Late 2020: Screening of various prospective partner IPP companies begin and is completed, with Fenchurch emerging as top out of three.

February 4, 2021: Official signing of PPP documents and ground-breaking at virgin IPP facility site at Ado-Ekiti

May 20, 2022: First set of equipments (transformers) and cables arrive, and are stored on Ekiti Government House grounds. (There was some promise and hope expressed to finish all work by September 2022, before JKF2 expiration. That did not happen!)

All through the rest of 2022 and much of 2023: Various buildings go up at the site, and more equipments arrive, underground tunnel digging and cabling goes on around town, interconnecting equipments (transformers and RMUs) around Ado metropolis

December 6, 2022: Diesel generator arrives and is installed

January 3. 2023: First CNG generator arrives and is installed.

April 6, 2023: Second CNG generator arrives on site, and is installed.

August 5, 2023: Two power transformers and one facility transformer arrive on site, and are installed. (There is hope expressed to commission the IPP facility as part of 1st Year BAO Administration anniversary. It did not happen.)

October 19, 2023: First gas supply on a skid arrives

October 20, 2023: Load bank testing of generators and transformers within the facility carried out; successful

October 23, 2023: First day ever of running and testing electricity beyond the facility. Successful. Testing of the various sectors of the IPP corridor continues for the next four weeks.

November 21, 2023: Commercial operation commences.

November 24, 2023: IPP Facility officially commissioned by Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji
