The President of Nigeria, Bola Tinubu will on Wednesday present the 2024 budget to a joint session of the National Assembly, All Nigeria Latest News reports.

Dr Ali Barde Umoru, Secretary of Research and Information at the National Assembly, disclosed this on Monday.

Umoru stated this while confirming the budget presentation to newsmen and requesting a list of those to be allowed into the chamber.

In anticipation of the budget presentation, three weeks ago, Tinubu submitted the 2024–2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper to both chambers of the National Assembly. The proposed total expenditure for the 2024 fiscal year was outlined at N26.1 trillion.

Following two weeks of interactive sessions with heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies on revenue and expenditure projections, the Senate’s Committee on Finance approved the MTEF. Notably, it endorsed the President’s proposal of N26.1 trillion as the 2024 budget and other parameters.

The Senate Committee on Finance also gave its approval for new borrowings amounting to N7.8 trillion. Additionally, it set the benchmark oil price for 2024 at $73.96 per barrel and the daily oil production volume at 1.78 million barrels.
