National Spelling Bee Champion, Miss Flourish Ajibola, has safely arrived in Kampala, Uganda, as she prepares for the upcoming world spelling bee competition.

Flourish and her tutor, Mr. Gbenga Ogunlade, departed Nigeria over the weekend after Governor Oyebanji fulfilled his commitment to cover the expenses for their trip to the international spelling bee competition.

Recall that two months ago, Governor Oyebanji had pledged to foot the bills for Flourish’s participation at the world championship in Uganda, when he received the Saint Lawrence Metropolitan School, Ado Ekiti student in his office, accompanied by her school’s proprietor, Elder Laurence Oluwafemi, and tutor.

Governor Oyebanji, on that significant day, not only received Flourish’s trophies but reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to transforming educational values in the state. In a decisive move, he approved the full sponsorship of Flourish’s trip and her teacher to the upcoming competition in Kampala, emphasizing that his commitment to education and human capital development is beyond rhetorics.

The Governor’s tangible efforts to reshape the education sector are evident in recent initiatives, including the recruitment of nearly 2,000 teachers, classroom renovations, enhanced teacher welfare, and the full payment of counterpart funds for SUBEB and UBEC. Collaborations with development partners such as the World Bank and UNiCEF.
